Global Tabla Performer

Swarupa has found National and International success in her musical career. A

disciple of Ustad Allarakha & Ustad Zakir Hussain she has been playing the Tabla

for over 25 years. Apart from the Tabla she has grown to teach herself a whole

gamut of percussion instruments from around the world.

Swarupa has been fortunate to share stage with some of the biggest names of the

music industry. Some highlights of this would be MTV Unplugged with Grammy

winner A.R. Rahman, MTV Coke Studio with music director Ram Sampath. She has

performed globally at major music Festivals like Glastonbury Festival UK, Kala

Ghoda Festial Mumbai, Alchemy Festival London as well as collaborated with

Maestros like A.R.Rahman, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Ranjit Barot, Talvin Singh, Shankar

Mahadevan, Peking Duk (Australia), Spoonbill (Australia), Sona Mohapatra among

many others.

Her duo musical project titled ‘Filter Coffee’ has performed across the globe

winning hearts of thousands of music lovers as well as gained some great press

along the way. Filter Coffee has a full music album titled ‘Raagatronic’ & a song in

the multi lingual film ‘Solo’ to their credit.

She has been honoured with many accolades through her journey with the most

noted one being the Forbes India 30 Under 30 award and even more recently the

Indian Achiever’s Club 35 Under 35 award. She is also on the advisory panel of the

global "hitlikeagirl" drumming contest for women and has been selected for the

OneBeat program 2022 - a global music collaboration held in USA. Swarupa has also

conducted a music workshop for Queensland University Of Technology (Australia)

on Indian Classical Music.
