Maharashtra is a culturally rich state. A state rich in folk music and art with a long history of popular folk artists In the legacy of folk music in the regions of Bordi, Gondhal, Lavani, Shahiri and Powada.


"Koli Geet" is a very popular folk music in India. It is popular in the western part of Maharashtra. The Koli Gita has a nearly 300-year-old tradition in Maharashtra. One of the semi-classical music forms of Maharashtra is "Natya Sangeet" OR "Drama Music" which is a small version of musical operas in the West.  Drama music or natya sangeet is a nearly 200 year old tradition in Maharashtra.


Let's celebrate the folk music of Maharashtra by engaging with the society and finding the hidden talent of folk music in Maharashtra

"The Masters" brings to you this unique talent hunt competition - The Folk Music of Maharashtra

The competition is open to all kinds of folk music in Maharashtra. Singers should submit their entries through YouTube videos on the competition page.  A committee of senior musicians will deliver the results of the competition and the winners will be given surprise gifts, music album deals, stage performance opportunities and cash prizes

 

Terms and Conditions

  • Only one entry is allowed for each contestant
  • The song should be a live song and the recorded videos will not be accepted
  • The decision of the organizers will be final and binding on all participants
  • There is no fee here and entry into the competition is completely free
  • The competition is open for bhajans, abhang, lavani, powada, Gondhal, koli songs, bhavgeet, Sugam Sangeet, Natya Sangeet and other Marathi folk music
